Still an avid composer and arranger, Dr. Ontos is frequently asked to work with music, media, and worship teams that struggle with connecting the praise and worship of God with the Word of God. Key features include understanding that:

• real, honest, genuine, transparent worship pursues God's presence through desperate dependence, eager expectation, and humble responsiveness.
• the ability and desire to worship God is something that God Himself gives us through Christ.
• worship of God cannot take place apart from His Word. It defines, directs, and inspires our worship.
• the key elements of worship in the Garden as compared to what is practiced today.
• Jesus is God's ultimate statement that He will provide a way for us to worship Him.
• true worshipers exalt Jesus Christ, Who exalts God the Father. They:
  • humble everything about themselves and exalt everything about Him.
  • are enabled and redeemed by God, respond to God's self-revelation in ways that exalt His glory in Christ in their minds, affections, and wills by the power of the Holy Spirit.
  • are aware that every word they say is reflective of their worship of God, which should be grounded in Truth.
• the reality of God is reflected in both our faith and our gratitude, just as our willing obedience exalts God and testifies to His worthiness.
• thanking and praising God in the midst of a congregation is what true worshipers were made for and central to what God is doing on the earth.
• corporate worship should be recognized as the worship of the 'living' body of the living Christ
• scriptural worship is meant to "stir up one another to love and good works" (Her. 10:24) – so, as I am stirred up as a benefit from the different strengths, gifts, and abilities God has given to others members of the congregation, I am stirred to humble myself, to love God, and to express scriptural worship toward Him in all His glory.
• scriptural worship should be a fresh opportunity to behold the glory of the Lord as we are transformed into the same Image from one degree of glory to another (2 Cor. 3:18).
• true worshippers edify Jesus Christ through others – using us to strengthen, encourage, and help and build up other members of the body, while receiving those same blessings from others.
• the priority in all worship is Love.
• music and media teams (a) do not create or enable worship and, (b) are not necessary for others to worship, but (c) are welcomed as an example of godly worship responding to what we have received in Jesus Christ personally.
  • idolatry is worship of self or self-desires by seeking the praise, adoration, strength, time, energy, and affections of others over Christ.
  • idolatry is songs, riffs, keys, vocal expressions, and the like that are NOT grounded in a humble act of confession, praise, gratefulness, and celebration of Jesus Christ.
  • the omnipresence of God humbles worship leaders 'hiding' from God , and encourages an actual corporate experience of engaging God's presence. It reduces being 'moved' by a creative arrangement, a stunning vocal performance, a massive choir, or a beautiful melody to worthlessness in the Presence of the Almighty.
